New beers & exciting times ahead

It seems that we have let things slip with keeping you all updated with the goings on at Bestens Brewery, for that we are truly sorry. But we can assure you that we’ve been working our socks off to bring you some exiting beer based delights.

It is nearly a year to the day since we started our lease at Bestens HQ in Lower Beeding. Since September 2018 the brewhouse has been worked hard, as we’ve been rolling our beers out across Sussex. We are so proud of the incredible list of stockists we have cultivated, and are so thankful to the support from these amazing places. We are so passionate about supporting local independent businesses that we have committed to only supply our beers to these type of outlets. We will continue to seek out more and more inspiring independent pubs, bars, stores, cafes, restaurants and clubs to stock our core range and limited edition beers. Keep an eye on our website’s list of stockists and our Instagram, Twitter & Facebook pages for updates.

Demand for our beer is growing and growing, which makes us so happy words cannot describe it. We have just placed an order for two 1BBL Unitanks from SS Brewtech in the US, which will increase the output from the brewery and allow us to experiment with a variety of different beers and beer styles.

We have taken the difficult decision to drop our core range of beers from 4 down to 2. We will no longer be brewing our American Pale Ale & Session Pale on a regular basis. Both beers were very popular and great sellers, but we want to free up space in our tanks to try new things. I’m sure we will brew them again (probably tweaked a bit, because Paul’s a compulsive recipe tweaker in search of perfection) as limited edition releases.

May 2019 has seen the launch of our Icons Range. These are beers dedicated to the people and places that have inspired our journey. First up was Trusty Sidekick, a 5.4% vol NEIPA. Packed full of juicy Amarillo, El Dorado & Ekuanot hops, it is an easy drinking, fruity, belter of a beer! This was launched on tap at The Old Bike Store in Worthing. We love this place, we asked the boss man Richard B. if we could launch our beer here as it is such a beautiful bar (a big micropub!) with an incredible line up of beers. They have been big supporters of Bestens, and we are so grateful to them for hosting us! The exclusive can launch was with our friends at South Downs Cellars over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. These guys know their beer, so to have their endorsement is a major boon for us.!

I can exclusively reveal the next beer in our icon range will be a big hazy IPA at 6% vol, showing off Centennial, El Dorado & Mandarina Bavaria hops. It will be released mid-June!!!

Our tap room has been going from strength to strength, and we are loving meeting so many wonderful people and getting to show off brewery-fresh beer. We are so sorry that we have not been able to open every Saturday, but with our full licence expected to be approved in June, we will be reviewing our opening days and times.

The visits to The Orchards Shopping Centre Market on Saturdays have been a huge success for us. We are looking to do these more regularly in June, July and August and are trying to arrange expanding the pitch to include a tap bar too. Fingers crossed!!

OK, essay over! We promise to keep the updates coming more regularly in the future.
