Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!

Our Community Fund

Right from the beginning we have committed to donating a percentage of the profits from every beer we sell to our community fund.

We do this as we believe building community is essential for the prosperity and happiness of everyone. We want to support those groups & initiatives that are doing amazing work in our local area.

We are excited to announce that the recipient of our Community Fund for 2021!

Hummingbird 1.jpg

The Hummingbird Refugee Project is a Brighton based charity working with young refugees, offering a variety of services and are working tirelessly fighting for the rights and protection of these young people.

Given our governments disgraceful treatment of refugees and plans to change the asylum process as well as the continued denial of systemic racism in the UK we feel that this is an excellent cause to support, and we cannot wait to hand over the big cheque to them towards the end of the year.

Below is a brief description of who they are and what they do in their own words:

“Founded in 2015 as a grassroots organisation in Calais, we’re now a Brighton based charity working locally with young refugees & campaigning nationally. Our Brighton based services have been developed by listening & responding to the needs of local young refugees. We actively campaign for the rights & protection of refugees. Alongside our Young People, we have led significant national & international campaigns and continue to lobby for change.”

Head over to their page to find out more about the great work that they do and help spread the word!

Including providing groups for those bereaved by suicide. People can self-refer to SOS.”Make it stand out

In 2019 we were proud to present a cheque for £441.21 to the incredible Down Syndrome Development Trust, as sole recipients of the proceeds of our community fund.

Spinning Sun

In November 2020 we launched the first release of Spinning Sun. We will be brewing this every year to help raise funds for The Early Birth Association. With every pint of Spinning Sun sold in can or on draught, we will donate £1 to this fantastic cause.

We brew this beer in collaboration with Andi & Jemma Roberts in memory of their daughter Tilly. Andi is an old school friend of our Founder & Head Brewer, Paul, and it was an honour and great fun to have him in to help with this brew back in 2020.

Below Andi & Jemma share Tilly’s story and a link to the Just Giving page for the charity.

Tilly 2.jpg

Tilly Roberts was born on 28th January 2014 at 24 + 5 weeks, weighing just 360 grams. She spent 5 months in the Trevor Mann Baby Unit before coming home on oxygen. She spent a wonderful 6 months at home, but unfortunately contracted a winter bug and spent the next 10 months in various PICU’s before sadly passing away on 1st November 2015.  Tilly will always be remembered by her family & friends as a little girl who fought hard & gave us the biggest amount of love.

Day by day, we would sit and watch the sun circle in the sky as Tilly received care and treatment from many wonderful NHS staff. We used to gaze out of the window watching it spin...We have also been selling ‘Tilly’s Sunflowers’ for the last few years, raising money for the Early Birth Association, so we thought we’d continue with this theme and call the beer “Spinning Sun”. The name is apt as the sun brings a lot of joy and brightness to people’s lives, which is what Tilly did for all of us.
